Low ping, DDoS protection and complete control over your Pawn scripts.
SA-MP is extremely modest on hardware. The samp03svr process runs in a few hundred megabytes and does not even saturate a single modern core. Expensive plans are unnecessary here. An economical VDS carries a 300-slot roleplay server comfortably. The actively developed successor today is open.mp, which runs your Pawn gamemodes and keeps shipping stable releases. On slots the documented ceiling is 1000 and the max_players default is 50.
What really sets the requirement is your gamemode. Ready-made roleplay gamemodes ship with tens of thousands of lines of Pawn, hundreds of timers and constant MySQL queries. If your server stutters, that is almost always the reason: an unoptimised `OnPlayerUpdate` callback freezes everyone's screen even on strong hardware.
The third factor is latency. The SA-MP player base is largely in Turkey and vehicle synchronisation is latency-sensitive. Our servers in Datacasa Istanbul answer within 5-20 ms from major Turkish cities, against noticeably more from an overseas host.
Setup guide How to Set Up a SA-MP Server on Linux: Step by Step

Connect as root. Upload your gamemode, edit server.cfg, install any plugin (MySQL, streamer, sscanf) and run your own compiler. No slot limits and no plugin approval.
Competition between roleplay servers sometimes turns into attacks. The 10 Tbps upstream capacity works together with MikroTik devices, XDP-based filtering and in-house solutions on our own network; your IP is not null-routed and players stay connected.
Roleplay servers constantly read and write character, vehicle, house and inventory data. MySQL on enterprise NVMe SSD lowers query latency and backups take seconds.
The table assumes a roleplay setup with the game server and MySQL together. SA-MP is light, so economical plans cover most scenarios.
