Knight Online server files run on Windows Server with an MSSQL database. That makes resource planning different from Linux-based game servers: MSSQL uses whatever memory it is given, and without a cap it squeezes the game processes (Ebenezer, AIServer, Login). Memory, not core count, is the first bottleneck on a KO server.
The second factor is that the game processes behave differently. Ebenezer's game logic is processed serially, so it benefits from clock speed, while AIServer splits monster work by zone across several threads and therefore benefits from core count. Mgame publishes no official hardware documentation for these processes. In practice a KO server wants both enough cores and high clock speed, which is why we recommend the Ryzen Threadripper PRO line.
The third is disk behaviour. MSSQL log and data files write constantly; on spinning disks or shared storage, character saves and inventory operations lag. Every plan uses enterprise NVMe SSDs, so database backups take seconds rather than minutes.

Windows Server is installed with no extra licence charge. Getting the memory split right matters: give roughly a third of total memory to MSSQL and leave the rest to the game processes for the most stable results at peak hours. Our team advises on OS and capacity planning.
