Project Zomboid runs a far heavier simulation than it looks. Every zombie on the map is tracked individually, and as players spread into the cities the number simulated at once climbs quickly. Eight gigabytes covers a four-player server, but consumption rises noticeably once players scatter across different towns.
The second factor is clock speed. The Indie Stone publishes no core count requirement; the only figure it publishes is on the memory side. In our own operation stutter in large hordes and dense city blocks is smaller on high frequency processors. That is why we recommend the high-frequency Premium line.
The third is save size. Every chunk a player visits is written to disk and kept. On a server running for months the save directory reaches gigabytes, which needs both disk space and a real backup routine.

Every visited region is written to disk permanently. Enterprise NVMe SSD keeps both chunk writes and backups fast enough that players never notice.

Protection runs in layers: volumetric traffic is absorbed upstream on the 10 Tbps capacity built with Aurologic and GibirNet, and the rest is filtered by MikroTik devices, XDP-based filtering and in-house rule sets on our own network. In a survival run that lasts months, downtime means lost progress; protection is included with every plan.
