On a Garry's Mod server, addons create the load

The Garry's Mod server itself is light; the load comes from the addons you run. A comprehensive gamemode like DarkRP arrives with hundreds of Lua files, constant timers and database queries. A 32-slot DarkRP server can be heavier than a 64-slot sandbox server on the same hardware.

Second is clock speed. Valve's own developer wiki documents the Source frame order: server game code is processed sequentially in a single loop, and the engine's multithreaded subsystems (sound mixing, the job pool) do not parallelise that loop. When tick rate drops, players feel it immediately in physics props and vehicles, and adding cores does not fix it on its own.

Third is disk space. Workshop addons, custom maps and FastDL content grow quickly; on an active community server the addon directory can reach tens of gigabytes. Factor that into your plan.

High-frequency processors

Stable tick rate on a busy DarkRP server

The clock speed of Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5975WX helps keep tick rate from sagging under Lua addon load. Because the server game code is processed serially, what matters is speed, not core count.

Room on disk

Space for Workshop addons and FastDL

As your addon directory grows, NVMe SSD shortens both load times and map changes. You can also run a web server on the same machine for FastDL and cut your players' download times considerably.

Full administrative access

Your gamemode, your rules

Connect as root. Install DarkRP, TTT, Prop Hunt or your own gamemode, manage addons freely and run MySQL on the same machine. No slot limits and no addon approval.

DDoS protection

Ready for attacks on community servers

Protection is spread across several layers rather than one appliance: volumetric traffic is absorbed upstream on the 10 Tbps capacity built with Aurologic and GibirNet, and what is left is filtered inside our own network by MikroTik devices, XDP-based packet filtering and rule sets we develop in house. Included with every plan; we do not null-route your IP or charge extra during an attack.

Choosing a plan

Which plan for which gamemode?

The table follows addon load. Sandbox setups are light; DarkRP and similar comprehensive gamemodes want noticeably more.

Server options

Two processor families for your Garry's Mod server

Because of addon load and tick rate sensitivity we recommend the Premium line. Small sandbox servers run comfortably on the Economic line.
