- 2. Enter the IP Address and Port: After opening the Putty software, enter the IP address of the server you want to connect to in the Host Name (or IP address) field. The default port is 22; if you're using a different port, update this field accordingly.

- 4. Enter the Username: In the terminal, type the SSH server's username in the “login as:” line.
